i think our complexities are what make us unique and are among the best things about us. but people don’t have patience anymore. instead they get frustrated and angry when people don’t completely coalesce with their ideas.
i think that the beauty of life and actually getting to know people is delving into those complexities, figuring them out and then learning from them. but then again, that requires people putting down their phones and actually having conversations. i recognized that so often we’re scared to have serious dialogue about people’s lives or futures because it’s so much easier to lampoon another person or to discuss trite things.
i’ve always appreciated people that can enlighten me. some of my best memories of 2011 are when i was able to engage in getting to know people from other countries and essentially other worlds just through face-to-face discussion and interaction.
you can certainly be well versed through reading, researching and exploring things but i cherish being able to legitimately discuss and understand people’s reasoning. similarities are easy to drawn upon, it’s not difficult to discuss with someone something you already love.
the difficulty lies in either: 1. having the courage to present different ideas or 2. being understanding enough to quantify different ideas from another person.
this ending up being a longer tangent than i expected, just had to clear my mind.
